I was born in Pasto, “La Ciudad Sorpresa", ancestral territory of the Andes. I grew up in “La Sucursal del Cielo", Cali, a tropical and multicultural city, the cradle of social movements and musical narratives.
As a teenager, I loved theatre. Performing on stage, I experienced the seamless fusion with the audience, receiving confidence in return. I roamed the colourful streets of Cali, capturing ‘mental’ photographs, moved by urban harshness and inequality. I would leave my musings etched in public spaces, wondering about the reactions they might evoke.
Growing up in a city influenced by incessant migrations and social contrasts moulded my perception of public spaces as a crossroad of identities. Such experience transformed the way I relate to vulnerable communities and influenced the roots of my creative process.
I went to Univalle University to study Literature, but soon discovered the boundless expressive freedom of visual arts. The narrative power of images led me to complete studies in Artes Visuales. My creative investigation emerges from expanding self-awareness through the engagement with others, transforming marginalisation into conscious action.
My artwork moulds the streets, the walls, and the paper. I transform my experiences into creative ‘laboratorios’. Here we celebrate ancestral diversities and through collective participation we envision new possible worlds, stretching from the Colombian Pacific to Mexico City, from the Peruvian Amazon to the Atacama Desert, and from the Andes in Argentina to the Amazonian foothills in Caquetá.
